About Eileen Anderson

I have practiced as a critical care nurse at Yale New Haven Hospital for 32 years.  My work with patients recovering from life threatening situations and awaiting heart transplants and open heart surgery has inspired me to take a holistic approach to health care. One of my co-workers a Reiki Master invited four of my co-workers and myself to enroll in her Reiki 1 class. The goal was to create a calming and healing environment within our Unit. I then offered Reiki treatments to patients, families, and staff members. The following year we learned to deepen our practice by learning Reiki Level 2. We found that we had created a healing environment within our Unit. The last 18 years of my nursing career was combined with Reiki practice. I was also the chairperson of our Unit's bereavement committee and had been including my Reiki practice in end of life care.

It became  clear to me that my retirement goal would be to bring Reiki from the hospital setting into the community.  I then decided I wanted to teach this wonderful practice, so I became a Reiki Master Teacher. My goal is for the community to access Reiki through classes, presentations, and treatment sessions. My practice is Reiki as a single modality to help the person to heal themselves. A balanced mind and body promote healing and resilience
